Nnamdi kanu not in FG custody

The Minister of Information and Culture, in a statement on Tuesday, said that Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), whose location is unknown, is not under Federal Government detention. He stated this during an interview with AFP. According to Lai, Kanu could be hiding. “He’s not being held by government at all.” He said Kanu had “crossed a line” with his agitation for Biafra and that he (Mohammed) suspects the IPOB leader could be “in hiding.” He said Kanu’s whereabouts has being unknown since the clash between members of his secessionist group with the Nigerian Army during the army’s Operation Python Dance procession at his hometown in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State. His supporters claim that the Nigerian Army had invaded their leader’s residence, destroyed his home and killed some of his members. They all accused the Nigerian Army of taking away Kanu. An allegation the Army had already denied, noting that it did not kill anyone nor took way the IPOB leader. The Army noted that during its procession in Umuahia, suspected militants of IPOB had attacked soldiers with stones, bottles, matches etc. the attack prompted the soldiers to shoot into the air. Kanu’s group was proscribed by the South-East Governors Forum following the clash in the region, the Nigerian Armed Forces and an Abuja Federal High Court had declared IPOB a terrorist organization. These declarations make Kanu, the leader of a terrorist group. Consequently why he is probably on the run, as claimed by the federal government. Kanu’s disappearance is however not a problem for the Biafra leader, but turns out to be a big problem for his sureties who had stood for him to get bail from prison.
